A Kinect Future
A Kinect Future | Dylan.tv

I am super excited about this blog post because I can't go more than an hour anymore without an idea for how a technology like Microsoft Kinetic could be used. I mean it really seems like the first step down the path to find the holy grail of computer UI.

Imagine mobile phones and laptops that looks back at you and can read your face. Measure the distance between your eyebrows and checks to understand if you’re happy, angry or confused?Imagine your car knowing you’re getting drowsy and turning up the music, or your cell phone uses face recognition to know when your mom is snooping around and deletes all the messages from girlfriend?I mean I really believe this is the start of a technology experience that will be radically different than the mice and touch screens we know now.

Kinetics can already automatically turn an R rated movie to PG when it sees a children walk into the room, or make a level in a game get easier when it sees your getting to frustrated. So doesn’t it make since that it will someday adjust lesson plans for a childs current mood, notify authorities when it senses you are in trouble or accurately tell if someone is lying to you?

We already have software that knows who your friends are, can recognize your voice and check your location. And since we all have patters and general rules in society where a smile means you’re happy or you look up when you forgot something or you wink to show approval. We are just begging for computers to catch on.

I really hope Microsoft continues to build and partner this technology to get it into our, cars, homes, and mobile devices .If they can just learn a couple lessons from Googles opennes and Apple digital store model to build a simple and open API so anyone can develop and sell their concept for Kinect I am buying Microsoft stock ASAP.

So that’s it for this Vlog and I will see you next week on Dylan.tv

Thanks for visiting,
