Climate Debating Twitter Bot
Climate Debating Twitter Bot | Dylan.tv

This week we are focusing attention on an developer named Nigel Lech, who recently  got tired of arguing with climate change skeptics and wrote a twitter chat-bot to do it for him.

Every 5 minutes his twitter handle @AI_AGW searches for tweets with phrases that correspond to the arguments for why global warming isn't real .

Today I plan to challenge this bot to a battle of the wits.

Round 1:

@AI_AGW Hey Jerk off, If it's obvious climate change is real then why don't all the scientists agree?

@DylanJorgensen  97% of climate experts agree humans are causing global warming. The other 3% get over 57% of the media impressions (bit.ly/vDfs)

- Winner:  @DylanJorgensen

Round 2:

@AI_AGW I believe you have a hidden agenda to defend Al Gore's Inconvenient truth because he invented the internet and that's where you live.

@DylanJorgensen Although not perfect Al Gore's book is quite accurate, and contains far more verifiable facts than contrarian books. (Bit.ly/8897dU)

-  Winner: @DylanJorgensen

Round 3:

@AI_AGW If global warming is real how come it still snows?

@DylanJorgensen Saying there is no global warming because it snows is like saying there is no sun because it gets dark at night.

- Winner: DylanJorgesnen

Final Comment:

@AI_AGW  You act like you are all facts but you are really just a liberal mouth piece.

@DylanJorgensen Facts have a well-known liberal bias"~Stephen Colbert .

Winner: @DylanJorgensen

As you can see I beat the "Climate Change Twitter-bot" 4 to 0. So Nigel has a long way to go before @AI_AGW can beat the wits of a mortal man, Let alone this mortal man.

Better luck next time, Nigel

In a way, what Leck has created is a pro-active search engine: it answers twitter users who aren't even aware of their own ignorance.

On the one hand the idea of a reverse search engine is somewhat appealing, on the other hand; it's Clippy for the internet.

""" I see you're trying to deny global warming. Would you like to:

  1. research the available facts and science?

  2. Have an authority figure you trust tell you, you're wrong or right?

  3. Meet other like-minded singles?

Thanks for visiting,
